I don’t know about you guys but I LOVE seeing what is in everyone else’s makeup kits. My favourite part of a kit is the good old complexion products; it really gets me excited to see what others are currently using and how they use them. If you are like me and love to have a sticky-beak into others’ kits, have a gander at a few of my current complexion essentials that I carry in my makeup kit:

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Every makeup kit needs a great makeup cleanser. Like many other artists I use the Bioderma Sensibo H2O; it is soothing and safe for sensitive skin with its fragrance-free, paraben-free and alcohol-free formula. A quick way to ensure the skin is free of any product or residue before starting a makeup application.

Sex-a-Peel & Water Balm by Sonia Roselli

Sonia’s skin prep line is so beautifully made. The exfoliating spray ”Sex-a-Peel“ is a life-changing product which lets you instantly exfoliate the skin of dead flaky skin, leaving the skin looking and feeling smoother. It is safe for all skin types (when used as directed), and you can use this on both the face and body. It is a great product to carry in your kit to ensure your canvas is well-prepped.

Water Balm is a great product that has multiple uses and is great for all skin types. Having products in your kit that does more than one thing is a makeup artist’s best friend (hello smaller, lighter kit!). It is a serum, moisturiser, toner, primer all in one - a fast way to pump moisture into the skin that needs some care. This wondrous product can also be layered on top of makeup to refresh the complexion, it can be mixed with your foundation to create a moisturising tint, it can be mixed with powders or creams to create gel blushes and lip stains, it can be applied on the lips and it can be tapped on the high points of the face to add some dewy glow.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid is a fast-absorbing serum that increases hydration and skin elasticity to make skin appear supple, soft and healthy. Whilst you do get a more beneficial result by using daily, this product provides a fast way to give all skin types an injection of moisture.

Egyptian Magic

This cream is another great multi-use product - Egyptian Magic is great to use under makeup as a moisturiser, as a lip balm, mixed with products to create cheek and lip tints, on top of foundation to create dewy looks, and it also creates a beautiful hydrated glow on the body.

RCMA Foundation Palette

A palette from RCMA is an amazing addition to any kit, especially if you want to keep your kit small. Their creamy highly-pigmented colours can be used as concealer, foundation, highlight and contour. They can be applied in thin layers to build a full-coverage foundation or they can be mixed with other products to sheer them out. It is a product that works for most skin types and in a single palette you will have the shades and adjusters you need for every skin tone.

Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector

I love these highlighters; I have a preference for liquids and cream products because they have more versatility. The Shimmering Skin Perfectors are fantastic to use under foundation, mixed with foundation for a lit-from-within glow, over foundation and on the body. A little bit goes a very long way with these products - for a body glow I tend to mix with moisturisers before applying and make sure they are rubbed into the skin well.

Makeup Forever 12 Flash Colour Case

The 12 Flash Colour Case is a great palette for any makeup kit. The beautiful bright colours are great for creative work and body painting however, you can also use it when you’re in a pinch to help you adjust and create new complexion colours, lip colours, blush colours, contour colours and 101 other uses.
